The intern: Meet, Miranda!

We have a new face in the office! Miranda is our Summer/Fall Digital Media Coordinator Intern. She has a knack for creative writing and a keen talent for project juggling! We’re excited to have her bubbly personality around for the next two semesters!

What projects are you working on at The Sampson House?

The main thing I’m focusing on at the moment is building and growing TSH internal socials as well as working with some pretty cool clients like Rebecca Scott Designs and Ammunition Wines.

What do you spend your time doing when you’re not working on TSH?

When I’m not doing school work, or something for one of the many extra curriculars I’m involved in on campus like being on executive boards for Advertising Club and L&F Association, working at The Collegian, or attending events for my sorority, I love to just chill with my friends, go to the gym or shopping, I’m a shopaholic so I’m constantly online shopping. 

Favorite social media platform?

Twitter for sure, I could scroll for hours. 

What are you reading right now?

Girl Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis. 10/10 would recommend, she has a way with words that is very inspiring and motivating. 

What is your ideal weekend?

Probably going out with my friends one night and then staying in and relaxing the next, balance is key. 

What app could you not live without?

Spotify, a world without music is one I don’t want to experience. 

What’s your go-to coffee beverage?

Cold Brew with a splash of almond milk and vanilla or if I’m feeling like a need some pep in my step, I can always count on an iced vanilla latte with an extra shot of espresso to get the job done.

When did you develop an interest in marketing? 

I always knew I had a love for business and that I wanted to do something in the industry but my love for marketing specifically was sparked during my sophomore year of college when I joined my sorority and began marketing events and designing graphics. I love that marketing gives me the ability to be creative while also being strategic and seeing the process of a project develop from start to finish is super rewarding. 

What drew you to The Sampson House?

I think the first thing that drew me to TSH was how different they are from any other agency in Sioux Falls. I love the unique look and feel of the content they create and how close knit the team is, is definitely a plus!

Favorite way to blow off steam?

There’s nothing a face mask and a glass of wine can’t solve, but a good nap or a trip to Target also gets the job done.

If you could have lunch with one person, who would it be and what would you order?

One of my favorite people in the world is Chance the Rapper so probably him, and I’d order a Moscow mule and pepperoni flatbread pizza.

Best advice you’ve ever received?

A bit of hard work and dedication will take you a long way. -My dad

What’s your favorite thing about your internship?

My favorite thing about this internship is that no two days are ever the same. I love that I get to be creative and work with some super talented people in a beautiful environment. 

What’s your ultimate bucket-list travel destination?

Bora-Bora, with any luck I’ll find Kim Kardashians earring in ocean while I’m there. 

Favorite restaurant?

Chevy’s, Mexican food is my guilty pleasure. Or Mackenzie River (try the cowboy nachos with pulled pork, you’ll thank me later.)

3 interesting things about you:

  1. I’ve had braces for six years, yes you read that right, six. 

  2. I had a YouTube channel in middle school with my best friend and one of our videos has over 100,000 views. 

  3. I’m and Makeup and Skincare fanatic, I love trying new things and playing around with products.

What are you currently listening to on your playlist?

A mix of jams featuring artists such as Tame Impala, Mac Miller, and Billie Eilish among many others. 

Current Favorites- “GONE, GONE / THANK YOU” by Tyler, The Creator, “Juice” by Lizzo, and “Reboot” by Kami ft Chance the Rapper & Joey Purp.

Go-to show on Netflix?

New girl, I could watch it over and over and still find it hilarious.

Favorite pop artist?

Ariana Grande or Rihanna. 

Ultimate dream career?

Marketing in Fashion for a high-end brand. I’d also love to have my own clothing brand, being able to incorporate both business and fashion in a job, doesn’t sound much like work to me. 

What do you bring to the table here at TSH?

I think my passion and drive for success is something great I bring to the table here at TSH, as well as my independence and motivation to get work done. Oh, and I’d like to think that I bring a little bit of humor to anywhere I go.

The intern: Meet, Liesel!

You guys! We lucked out with this girl. Meet, Liesel. Our newest digital marketing coordinator intern. Her title just skims the surface of what she’ll be doing here at TSH this spring and summer semester. She has a killer sense of style, a talent for writing and communications, mixed with a passion and excellent eye for design, modern aesthetic and digital marketing. She’s awesome and we’re looking forward to working with her.

1. What projects are you working on at The Sampson House?

I will be working a lot with our clients on content management for their social media, branding, and assisting with photo shoot production. Additionally, I’ll be working on copy writing for the TSH blogs!

2. What do you spend your time doing when you’re not working on TSH?

I love to write posts for my personal blog while sitting in a coffee shop. If I can’t make it out of the house, I love to catch up on my favorite TV shows.

3. Where is home for you and what conjures up the feeling of home?

I just moved back to Sioux Falls from St. Louis, so this is home for the time being. To make me feel more at home, fuzzy blankets, good music, and amazing candles are a must.

4. What are you reading right now?

The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn. It gives me major Hitchcock Rear Window vibes, I love it.

5. What is your ideal weekend?

Start the day with a good hot yoga class, explore the city a bit (go to a museum, shop, or try a new café), do a little self- care evening, and have a fun night out with friends.

6. What app could you not live without?

Twitter for the laughs & Instagram for the content.

7. What’s your go-to coffee beverage?

Iced Chai with Soy or Almond (flavored) Skim Latte

8. When did you develop an interest in marketing?

I think I became interested in marketing once I started developing an appreciation for products I genuinely liked. I saw how much of an effort was placed into perfecting the product from beginning to end for others to enjoy. That passion was exactly what I liked about marketing.

9. What drew you to The Sampson House?

I found TSH online and instantly fell in love with the aesthetic they had. Then I started looking into the client portfolios and I noticed a strong commitment to create beautiful content that was perfectly tailored to the clients’ needs and knew I wanted to be a part of it.

10. Favorite way to blow off steam?

Curl up on the couch with my dog, eat some dark chocolate, and watch an episode of a lighthearted/funny show. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia & Friends are my go-to’s.

11. If you could have lunch with one person, who would it be and what would you order?

Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Pad Thai

12. Best advice you’ve ever received?

“It’s ok to not know exactly what you want to do in life. I’m 75 and I still don’t know what I want to do” – my dad

13. What’s your favorite thing about your internship?

The chance to be innovative and creative as well as TSH team’s dynamic.

14. What’s your ultimate bucket-list travel destination?

Japan. I’ll be going there during cherry blossom season this year!

15. Ultimate favorite college moment?

Mardi Gras. STL has the second largest Mardi Gras celebration in the US, so everyone goes all out. You basically get to be with your friends from 7 am until the middle of the night decked out in Mardi colors, feather boas, and all the beads you can find.

16. Favorite restaurant?

A hole in the wall place in STL called Thai 202; it maybe seats 8 people and has the most divine pad Thai (I ate there 3 times during my last week at school; no shame). I could also live off of Sanaa’s pita, hummus and tabbouleh.

17. 3 interesting things about you:

- I was actually born in Miami and lived a good amount of my life there (yes, FL to SD was a rough transition).

-I am fluent in Spanish. My mother is from Mexico and I lived there for a year.

-I play 5 instruments!

18. What are you currently listening to?

A good mix of songs that I call bops by artists including Louis the Child, Odesza, Snakehips, etc.

My dream career is to work as an attorney for a big fashion company/retailer in NYC.
