Recap: Hungry For Truth, Fall Family Farm Tour

This fall, TSH executed a successful event for our client, Hungry For Truth. Morgan and Jason Kontz, farm owners in Colman SD, were happy to host a Fall Family Farm Tour for the HFT ambassadors and their families. It was the perfect fall day full of conversations, learning, and lots of farm themed goodies! Tag along with us and catch a glimpse of what our afternoon looked like. Welcome to the Farm!

Noon- 12:30pm: Families began to arrive, hungry to learn and ready to fill their bellies will all of the farm and fall themed treats! We enjoyed farm shaped sugar cookies (cows, pigs, barn, soybeans and HFT logo), “Harvest” popcorn, PB&J’s, and caramel apples. Kiddos ate snacks and ran around the farm playing on tractors and hay bales in good old fashion farm fun. We had a cornhole game with boards shaped like a cow and pig.

12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Time for the main event….FARM TOURS! Morgan lead the group in an engaging and educational tour around the farm. The kiddo’s sported farm animal headbands as they stopped to see and learn about ALL parts of the farm! Running through alfalfa and climbing on semi-trucks. The crowd favorite was feeding the cows! The group was also able to go into the chicken coop and collect freshly laid eggs that they got to take home. How cool!!!

1:30pm: Tractor rides!!! Jason was kind enough to give every guest a tractor ride around the farm! While guests were on their rides, the others continued to munch on snacks, hang with the animals, and have some photo ops!

2:00pm: The tour has come to an end, but the farm fun doesn’t stop here! Everyone got to take home a goodie bag filled with a TSH created Hungry for Truth coloring book, Hungry for Truth farm fun facts flash cards, stickers, cookies, and of course, an animal headband!

We had such a successful day out at the farm and can’t wait to do it again!

5 Stats to Watch on Your Website

Web analytics can be scary. As overwhelming and complicated as they may seem, analytics can actually be simple to understand. We’ve narrowed it down to 5 key metrics we think are most important to know to get the most out of your website.

1.) Your Audience

When creating content for a website, you are creating it for a particular group of people. It’s important that your website & social media audience are lining up with your target market.  Knowing your audience is important to keep track of your content and if it is engaging with your demographic. You want to know who you are speaking to on all platforms. Paying attention to demographics such as age, gender and location are some of the most important stats to keep track of.  Websites and most social media sites make this data accessible through basic analytics pages.You’ll find an audience section on the insights tab of your social media pages and your website analytics page. Facebook can even tell you what your visitors interests are. Creepy. Knowing who is interacting with your site is critical in order to grow your audience and create better content.

2.) Traffic

All across the World Wide Web, visitors are finding your site. Monitoring the traffic to your website is critical to understanding where your visitors are coming from. Your analytics will show you traffic sources and if your website has a balanced mix of guests: Search, Referring Sites, Direct, and Social/Campaigns. Search refers to how strong your SEO (Search Optimization) skills are, relying on your websites tag words and how high or low you are ranked when someone Google’s a product or service you might offer. Referring sites are visitors that are coming from a different website that links to your products or services.  Direct traffic refers to visitors who are directly navigating to your website by typing in the URL and are most often your returning customers. Social or Campaigns are guests from email links, Facebook posts, social media campaigns etc. Having a mix of these different traffic types is a good sign of a healthy digital media presence. If you notice a lack from any traffic source, work on creating more engaging content on those platforms.

3.) What’s Popular

Now that you know your audience, what content is their favorite? Tap into your Popular Content tab in your website analytics. This will show you where your website visitors are going. Maybe your blog gets the most traction or your client work pages are killer. It’s important to keep track of what is getting clicks. On your social media pages, pay attention to your Engagement Rate. Engagement rate is a metric that is heavily used when analyzing social media to track likes, shares, and comments. To get your engagement rate- divide your number of reactions (likes/comments) by your post reach. A higher Engagement Rate is a sign of great content meaning you are doing great, in which case, do more of that content, your followers are loving it!

4.) Site behavior

We all want to be popular. One way to measure your popularity is Pageviews. A pageview  is a metric that counts how many times users click on different pages within your website. This shows they were interested enough to check out several pages before leaving the site. Another important metic under this category is Bounce rate. Bounce rate refers to the percentage of visitors who navigate to your site then click away after only viewing one page. This is important to note so you can then work on improving your sites “stickiness” and keeping those future customers around! Whether that be adding more compelling content to your homepage or moving the important information to the top of your website. The less you make your visitors work to find what they are looking for, the better.

5.) Conversion Rates

So, you have people on your site. Yay! But how do you convert these visitors to customers? Even if you are not selling a product, a conversion could mean signing up for an email list or download a desktop calendar (link to our September calendar there). This is called a conversion or, in other terms, a measurement of success in getting visitors to perform a desired action. Closely track where your conversions are coming for so you can know where to focus your digital efforts, are the converting visitors coming from Facebook? An email campaign? The more you know, the more you can optimize your efforts.  Strive for a high conversion rate, meaning that your efforts are working.

Why We're Loco for Logos!

There are so many reasons why logos are important. We live in a world that is constantly throwing information and words at consumers that taking in content becomes overbearing. With this vast amount of information, people have an easier time recognizing and comprehending attractive visuals, such as logos. Logos have been around for ages (just think of hieroglyphics) and are still around today because they are a great and effective way of communicating who and what your business is. 1). Logos are important because they represent your business. First and foremost, logos are important because they become the face of your company. Think of logos as a window into your business. You are giving people a peek into who you are. For example, think of the logos that you are familiar with. What do they look like? Most of them are so powerful in representing the business that they do not even require text. Think of Nike, McDonald’s, Apple and Mercedes Benz. Nike’s current logo is just a swoosh, McDonald’s logo is composed of two golden arches, Apple’s logo is just a bitten apple, and Mercedes Benz has three links that form a peace-looking sign in a circle. No words, nothing flashy, yet you know what each logo represents and the company it stands for. The image that represents you ties into our next point, which is branding.

2). Logos are important because they brand your business. Before we connect branding to the importance of logos, we must establish branding. As defined by Entrepreneur, branding is "the marketing practice of creating a name, symbol or design that identifies and differentiates a product from other products." Now that we have branding established, think of any business cards, thank-you's, invites, menus, shopping bags, or websites you have viewed from companies. What is a common theme all of the items above have? The answer...a logo that is very prominent on all of the items. This is how your logo brands your business; it literally goes on anything and everything related to your company. So, naturally, it is the image you are constantly showing people. This image becomes engraved in people's mind that they subconsciously know what you do and who you are.

3). Logos are important because they help your business stand apart from the competition. The last reason logos are important is that they help your business stand apart from the competition. Think of this. How many gyms have the wording “anytime” or “24” in their logo? What about all of the banks that have the word “first” in their name? How do you remember the difference between these? If at first glance, there is no difference between your business and a competitor, how is a consumer going to choose you? Give your brand the attention it deserves by going a different route with your logo design. If everyone in your industry is using blue and orange in their logos or the same phrase, use a different color combination and tagline. There are an infinite number of word, color and design combinations that your company’s logo, name and tagline can be created uniquely + with a strategy to help others notice you. Whatever logo and name you have for your service or product, you should have two goals in mind with the design: be easily recognized and stand apart from the competition. The last thing you want to do is have your target market mistake you for a competitor because you had a similar logo or tagline. That is why having a distinct logo and branding from the beginning is very important in standing apart from the competition.
