ABOUT THE ROLE –
We’re looking for a Copywriter who loves finding the right words, asking the right questions, and turning strategic insights into compelling stories, clear messaging, and creative ideas that inspire action.
As a copywriter at The Sampson House, you will work across a mix of clients, industries, and projects. One day you might be writing website copy for a law firm, the next you could be developing a campaign concept for a food brand, scripting a commercial, or defining the voice of a new business. Your work could include brand stories and taglines, email campaigns, social content, articles, case studies, and sales materials. You’ll work closely with our account, design, digital, and video teams to create work that is creative, thoughtful, and effective.
Beyond assigned projects, we’re looking for someone who brings ideas to the table. You might uncover a story worth pitching to the media, suggest a fresh content series, or recognize an opportunity to strengthen a client’s messaging. You’ll help lead the thinking behind the words and bring those recommendations forward.
This role is for someone who can take a blank page and run with it, but also knows when to step back, do the research, and figure out what the audience actually needs to hear. You’ll have a voice of your own, but you’ll also need to know how to write in someone else’s.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO -
Write clear, creative, and engaging copy for websites, social media, blogs, email, print, digital advertising, video, and other marketing materials.
Develop brand stories, messaging, taglines, and voice guidelines that help clients communicate what makes them distinct.
Translate strategic insights and creative direction into messaging that connects with the right audience and inspires action.
Develop campaign concepts, headlines, and storytelling ideas in collaboration with the creative team.
Proactively identify and pitch opportunities for client and agency storytelling, content, campaigns, and stronger messaging.
Develop PR angles, media pitches, press releases, and thought leadership content in collaboration with the account team.
Write scripts and treatments for commercials, brand videos, and other video or audio content.
Create case studies, sales materials, presentations, and award submissions that communicate the thinking, work, and results behind a project.
Research clients, industries, competitors, audiences, and trends to inform your work.
Interview clients, team members, and subject matter experts to uncover insights, gather information, and develop compelling stories.
Work closely with account, design, digital, and video teams to bring ideas to life and maintain consistent messaging across channels.
Ask thoughtful questions, identify gaps in a brief, and help clarify the information needed to produce effective work.
Present copy and creative concepts to internal teams and clients, explaining the thinking behind your recommendations.
Adapt copy for different brand voices, platforms, audiences, and stages of the customer journey.
Apply SEO best practices in partnership with the digital team, creating useful, credible content with clear structure to support search visibility.
Edit and proofread your own work and team drafts for grammar, clarity, factual accuracy, consistency, and tone.
Incorporate feedback thoughtfully, advocate for ideas with clear reasoning, and refine work through revisions.
Support The Sampson House’s own marketing through agency content, portfolio stories, and promotional materials.
Manage multiple projects and deadlines, communicate progress, and flag questions or competing priorities early.
Stay curious about culture, marketing, storytelling, and emerging tools, bringing relevant ideas and approaches to the team.
