HOW DID YOU FIRST LEARN ABOUT TSH, AND WHAT DREW YOU TO US?

I’ve always had a good idea about the marketing agencies in Sioux Falls and wanted to gain experience in that space. I came across the Account Team opening and thought - “What the Heck?” and decided to throw my application in. Turns out, it was a great fit! I was drawn to TSH because of the clean aesthetic and branding, which tickles my ADHD brain. It just looks so nice! I am also impressed with the diversity of clients - I am excited to get the opportunity to work with brands that are so drastically different from each other.

WHAT ARE 3 WORDS TO DESCRIBE THE SAMPSON HOUSE?

  • Aesthetic

  • Strategic

  • Imaginative

WHAT PROJECTS ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON? AND WHICH HAS BEEN YOUR FAVORITE SO FAR?

I am currently working on my first Discovery & Kick off with a new client, Pillar Dental. I am excited to see the work we will do for them from start to finish! I’ve also gotten the opportunity to go on a Hungry for Truth,  Next-Gen Farmer Feature video shoot. This was absolutely my favorite project/day at The Sampson House. I was in awe of Luke and Jeff’s talents in the video and photo department and it was really fun to see their creativity, but also do my job and keep them on track with our priorities of the shoot. Shoutout to Corey Chicoine - he was awesome!

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU TO WAKE UP AND GO TO WORK?

My motivation comes from many different avenues - I cannot physically sit still so if I was home everyday, I may need to be committed (kidding not kidding). I love having somewhere to go everyday that challenges me and pushes me to meet new people, learn new things, and put myself in situations where I can be myself but also hone in on my creative and professional skills.

WHAT DO YOU SPEND YOUR TIME DOING WHEN YOU’RE NOT AT WORK?

I spend most of my time at home with my fiance, Shawn. We enjoy trying new restaurants, working on our house, traveling to see our friends and family, and capturing our friends' special moments behind the camera. We also LOVE summertime because it forces us to get out and be active, taking walks, playing sand volleyball, and sitting in the sun - most often, sitting on a patio with a beer!

Personally, I spend a lot of my time working on projects with my volunteer position with Alpha Phi at USD as their Chapter Advisor. This includes attending meetings for recruitment strategy, new member education, and overall membership retention and conflict. The summer is slower than the school year, which I appreciate the small break in evening meetings.

I am truly excited for this opportunity at TSH because of the culture and work life balance. I would love to be able to hone in on some of the hobbies I’ve been putting off and having more free time to decide what that is. As life continues to be busy, I have a feeling that in this chapter of my life that will be wedding planning. However; I would like to start reading again, be more active and attend pilates classes and/or take an adult dance class.

WHEN DID YOU DEVELOP AN INTEREST IN ART, DESIGN, AND MARKETING?

When I started college in 2017, I went in thinking I was going to be an Accountant and get my CPA (HA GOOD JOKE). I quickly realized that was not what I wanted to do and transitioned from Accounting to Marketing within the Beacom School of Business. I remember my last two years at USD, I took classes that were focused on marketing and sales. These classes really set me up for success as I learned the deeper aspects of marketing strategy. As I became more involved in USD’s campus and Alpha Phi, I took leadership roles that I had to plan events and work closely with marketing departments which solidified my decision to continue my education with marketing and design. When I met Shawn, I realized exactly where I fit within the marketing space. I absolutely don’t have a specific niche in an agency; in terms of design, media buying, market research. I found that organization, scheduling, and personal relationships is where I would fit best. I crave personal relationships and meeting new people. The execution of a project is just the cherry on top. I am in awe of the people on the creative team who can take an idea and bring it to life!

WHAT’S A CURRENT MARKETING TREND YOU SEE HAPPENING RIGHT NOW?

Influencer culture is the first one to come to mind. I’m not 100% sure how I feel about it to be honest, but I do think it’s a great tool to generate content for the agency partners. I am impressed with some of the current influencers who can take their personality and completely transform it into a brand. StrawberryMilkMob is a niche influencer that has gained my following. She’s just a random girl who lives by the beach and started posting fashion and comedy content. Once she gained her following, she started a bikini brand and I can honestly say I am a customer.

Another trend that I’m curious about is the integration of AI. I am slightly apprehensive about the use of AI in creation, because it’s not human and the creative teams across our industry deserve the hype of their craft. I am super interested in how it can enhance our overall productivity and organization.

WHO WOULD BE YOUR DREAM CLIENT TO WORK ON AND WHY?

Locally, I would LOVE to work with Eleven Eleven Bridal. I met the owners at my previous role and they are just two local gals (sisters), who are passionate about all things weddings. They opened their shop in Brookings about 2 years ago. They have a great opportunity to really take over the bridal shop market in the area - they are new, personable and have a great selection of dresses that are classic and trending.

Another local potential client that would be incredible to work with is the owners of Perch, Bread N Circus, and Pizza Cheeks. I wish I knew his name, but his wife used to run The Small Shope, a curated vintage store. I just think they have such a cool story and it would be awesome to be able to bring that to life in their branding of their restaurants.

Okay, one more local - USD. I love USD and all they stand for and I think it would be cool to dive into the education space.

Globally, my dream client is Coach. I LOVE the style of their bags because it’s a luxury brand, but it’s not Hermes or Louis Vitton. It feels more attainable for the average consumer and their style is more “everyday working woman”. They get so creative with their product delivery and there is opportunity in their marketing to emphasize those unique designs.

BEST ADVICE YOU'VE EVER RECEIVED?

“It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.”

My parents always told me this when I was growing up and I thought they were crazy because I wanted to know everything. As I got older, I quickly understood that relationships are much more important in my life than any vocabulary words or basic information that I’ve learned. I’ve been able to create opportunities for myself in my personal and professional life because of the relationships I’ve fostered over the years. For example - I was hired at The Diamond Room because of a mutual professor of the previous owner because he personally recommended me. This gave me the opportunity to prove my marketing knowledge and sales skills. Relationships came first and knowledge came because of my confidence in my education and experience, but I don’t know if I would have gotten that opportunity without that relationship.

DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN 3 WORDS

  • Charismatic

  • Loyal

  • Resourceful

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT YOUR POSITION?

The thing I’m most excited about the Account Coordinator position is the opportunity to learn. This is my first agency experience and I’m anxious to be able to use my skills to support TSH and create the opportunity for new business and foster the client relationships you currently have.

Also, I’m really excited to use the platforms used for organization (Asana makes me really excited). I am ready to use my Type A brain to support the clients and creative teams across the organization.

WHAT’S YOUR ULTIMATE BUCKET-LIST TRAVEL DESTINATION?

Bali, Indonesia. CAN YOU IMAGINE?! The photos alone of Bali make me want to cry, I can’t imagine seeing it in person. However; I am super scared of “Bali Belly”. That is a big way to ruin a vacation.

IF YOU COULD MEET ANYONE, LIVING OR DEAD, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

This made me really excited to see this question because this is quite literally my ice breaker question for anyone new I meet!

I actually have 4 and they are all dead:

    • Freddy Mercury

      • He needs to know the cultural significance he left … I delusionally think we would be really good friends and he deserves to know that he was so loved.

    • Mac Miller

      • I am devastated. He was the best artist of my generation and a lyrical genius. Also delusional and think we would be friends.

    • Princess Diana

      • I need to know what she knew before she “died” - Hot take: They killed her.

    • Brittany Murphy

      • WHAT HAPPENED BRITTANY MURPHY? Genuinely, what happened?

        • There is a documentary called “What happened Brittany Murphy” - highly recommend the watch.

FAVORITE RESTAURANT?

In Sioux Falls, 22ten is my favorite restaurant. It never fails me.  Second place is Sakura Sushi - hole in the wall locally owned sushi restaurant on Marion and Lake Lorriane.

3 INTERESTING THINGS ABOUT YOU:

In high school, I was an absolute jock. I played basketball, volleyball, softball, and danced at my local studio for 14 years. I don’t know where that went, it left me in college, but I would kill to be able to dance again. I was actually getting a dance minor when COVID hit and had to give it up because I didn’t have enough free time to spend in the studio by myself. </3

I am incredibly close to my extended family. My cousins and I grew up together at my grandparents house even though my brother and I were the only grandchildren that lived in the same town - we spent every holiday and extended weekend together. I am the “middle child” of the group of cousins, 5 cousins older and 5 cousins younger. Even in adulthood, we all get together at least twice a year and stay in-touch in our daily lives.

I love to thrift! I haven’t had much time to do this in the past 4 years, but my entire house is filled with thrifted decor, furniture, and clothing. Estate sales are my absolute favorite. I love the idea of a piece that someone loved so dearly being displayed in our house that we also continue to love. Also - Shawn & I purchased an estate house. Our house was owned by the same family since they built it. Their story is so beautiful and I feel honored that we get to create memories together in a place that was once filled with so much love by their family.

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY LISTENING TO ON YOUR PLAYLIST?

This question is so hard because it changes so often so here are a few of my favorite artists:

    • Odesza

    • Mac Miller

    • Justin Bieber

      • Circa: My World 2.0

    • Lord Huron

    • Mt. Joy

    • Motley Crue

    • Queen

GO-TO TV SHOW?

Grey's Anatomy is my guilty pleasure - I’ve probably watched it through like 10 times, but NEVER the newest seasons. It’s just not the same.

HOW DO YOU DEFINE SUCCESS?

Success to me means many different things. There is physical success which is the completion of a project myself or with a team. There is nothing better than watching your hard work transform into something that you’re proud of. Emotional success to me is waking up everyday excited to do my job and creating an environment where I can thrive personally and professionally.

WHAT DO YOU BRING TO THE TABLE HERE AT TSH?

I can bring a new perspective and a creative breath of fresh air into any brainstorm, client meeting, and company culture. My experience being a client, gives me the edge of understanding how a client may feel and what they are asking for. Living with a creative mind, I also have an inside on how the workload and deadlines can have an impact on that person. I feel that it’s important to have a clear line of communication between the account team to the creative team. It’s very important to meet your clients needs and if I’ve learned anything in the last few years at The Diamond Room, it’s that the customer comes first. As an Account Coordinator, I am willing to prioritize the scheduling of our creative team in a way that cultivates their talents whilst meeting the clients deadlines. I am very aware this is easier said than done, but I am excited to be able to find ways that work for both parties involved.

Also, I was going through our Google Drive and I would LOVE to be a part of the Culture Club! I bring energy and enthusiasm to TSH because I want to get to know all my colleagues in a more personal way. We will see each other everyday, so we might as well be buddies! :)
